A Message From The Head of the Junior School – Thursday, June 12, 2025

Dear Junior School Families,

Today marks our final edition of “The Weekly – Junior School” for the 2024 – 2025 school year.

Congratulations to all of our students, families, faculty and staff for another successful school year! Yesterday’s Closing Ceremony was a wonderful opportunity for us to gather together as a community, and reflect on our year together. I am always blown away at the incredible confidence and poise that our students have while performing, as well as how they are able speak so reflectively, and with such gratitude about being part of our community.

It was inspiring to see our students come together to sing “Ahead by a Century,” by the iconic Canadian band – The Tragically Hip – as their final performance of the year. This is a song that invites us to think about our past, present and future, while also challenging us to let go of the things that may have held us back, and imagine an even better future. It was the perfect selection to think about, as we depart at the end of the year, and look forward to both the summer ahead, and the next school year.

Have a wonderful summer!

Sincerely,

Kate

A Message From The Head of the Junior School – Friday, June 6, 2025

Dear Junior School Families,

Last year we moved Gator Day inside, due to the rain, and this year we had to adapt again, due to Environment Canada’s Special Air Quality Statement. Luckily for us, nothing can stop the incredible spirit and enthusiasm of our Havergal students! A special note of thanks to our Phys Ed Team and Grade 6 leaders for shifting today’s events indoors. They all showed tremendous flexibility and creativity, so that Gator Day continued to be an opportunity for our students to show their House Pride, and engage in a little friendly competition. Thanks as well to the HCPA for arranging for our students to get a special fruit treat as part of the afternoon.

Activities included everything from “Casse Tete,” “Super Mario Sisters,” “The Tower of Terror,” “Over/Under Ball” and an obstacle course. Finally, each grade then participated in relay races (egg and spoon, baton) We all then joined together again in the gym at the conclusion of the event for the presentation of the Gator Day Cup. While the scores were tight, I am pleased to announce that CATHERINE STEELE took home top honours, as the winners this year! Go Steelers!!!!

A huge congratulations to everyone for their participation, energy, and house spirit. It was a lovely way to end the week.

Warmly,

Kate
