A Message From The Head of the Junior School – Thursday, February 13, 2025

Dear Junior School Families,

Happy Snow Day! I hope that people are safe in their spaces, enjoying a cozy day, and spending some quality time outdoors playing in the snow. We know that some of our students might be feeling disappointed not to be on campus for the bakesale and to celebrate Valentine’s day. Please let them know not to worry, as these have both been moved to Tuesday!

That said, it has been a wonderful week of connection, community building. February days can sometimes feel long and dark, but the mood at Havergal this week was anything but. From Dress Down Days, to special activities, sweet treats – including the mystery of “The Missing Golden Bell”, to cheering on our Havergal Hockey teams, and enjoying a delicious cupcakes for the 100th Day of School, it felt like a week of celebration. A special shout out to our U12 Hockey Team, who played the BSS Bobcats at the Mattamy Centre, with an impressive score of 4 -1 for the Gators!

The purpose of this week is to bring a little light, laughter, and community spirit during the long winter months! I would say mission accomplished! Thank you to all those who helped in organising the events throughout the week.

As we head into the midterm Family Day long-weekend, I hope that this time provides you with an opportunity to pause, recharge, and enjoy time together. We look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Tuesday.

Warmly,

Kate

Pink Shirt Day – Wednesday, February 26 (Pink Shirt on TOP of uniform)

Students in JK to Grade 12 will be marking the importance of Pink Shirt Day onWednesday, February 28th. All students in JK to Grade 12 are invited to wear a pink shirt on top of their uniform on this day.

While we speak to our students about the difference between being rude, being mean and bullying on an ongoing basis, Pink Shirt Day highlights the importance of choosing to lift each other up, how to be an “upstander” and the very real impact that bullying can have. We will be speaking about the importance of Pink Shirt Day, and how it came about with our students at Prayers, on Tuesday, February 25th, so they understand the context of the day, in age appropriate ways.

Please visit the Pink Shirt Day Website to learn more!
