A Message From the Head of the Junior School – Friday, October 28, 2022

Dear Junior School Families,

Thank you so much for participating in our JS Parent-Teacher Conferences!

These important conversations provide an opportunity to discuss your child’s progress, to see the areas in which she is thriving, and to discuss targeted plans for continued growth. Moreover, they allow us to further strengthen the relationship between home and school.  It is important to remember, however, that while the conferences provide an overview of your child’s academic and social-emotional development, ongoing feedback throughout the year is paramount.  Should you ever have questions or concerns, we invite you to contact us and be assured that we will do the same.

Sincerely,

Kate

Magnus Health Information – Required for Winter Sports Registration, Excursions and Emergencies

In order to ensure we have the most up-to-date information about your child’s medical information you are required to update your child’s Vital Health Record, Over-The-Counter (OTC) Medication authorization form, and any applicable Health Plan of Care in Magnus Health (asthma, anaphylaxis, diabetes etc.

The insurance section of the Vital Health Record should be updated with OHIP information, as this is used for emergency situations, we do not require supplemental day student private insurance information

Click here for a link to do the update. Don’t delay – do it today!

When students are seen by a nurse at the health centre in the JS, we will share the note through the Magnus Portal. If your child tells you they have come to the Health Centre and you would like to see any follow-up suggestions please log into your parent Magnus Health Portal. Catch Up Payments – An Ontario Government Initiative

Today, the Ontario government launched Catch Up Payments, offering families direct financial support to support their children as they catch up. This money can be used to help to offset costs, whether that be for educational supplies, additional tutoring supports or other items to help their children address learning needs resulting from the pandemic. This new initiative commits a total of $365 million in direct financial relief for parents.

Families of students in publicly funded, private, First Nation/federally-operated or home-school settings will receive financial support. Students (up to 18 years old) can receive $200 per child, while students with special education needs (up to 21 years old) can receive $250. Families can apply for Catch Up Payments through a secure website where they can create a unique profile for each eligible student and check the status of their application throughout the process.

Applications for Catch Up Payments are now open and will remain open until March 31, 2023.
