A Message From the Head of the Junior School: Friday, February 25, 2022

Dear Junior School Parents,

This Wednesday, members of the HC community participated in Pink Shirt Day. Today, our Junior School Prefect, Tomisin, shared The Story of Pink Shirt Day, helped explain what bullying is and is not, ways to stand up for yourself and The Importance of Being an Upstander. Finally, she invited us to take part in “The Kindness Challenge,” which was put together by the Junior School Council, made up of Upper School students.

Finally, in recognition of the turmoil occurring in the world, and those affected by it, we closed our time together this morning with the following prayer:

Gracious Lord, some areas of your and our fragile world are experiencing injustice and oppression right now. Please grant peace and hope to all who experience heartache and despair. Help the world know what is right and what is wrong. Grant your wisdom to those in authority in our nations to bring your just and respectful rule. In your goodness, encourage us to pray always for peace and for an end to division among persons, countries and nations. May justice prevail everywhere. Where we are, may our prayerful support of one another be known, and felt  as we work together for the end of all conflict and for lasting peace.

Sincerely,

Kate

Returning Library Books

  • Due to the lockdowns and unusual routines over the past two school years, it is clear that many of our library books have been misplaced.
  • We would ask families to take careful look at home and appreciate receiving them – no questions asked!

REMINDERS

Chartwell’s Ordering Form

  • For the week of March 7, you are invited to submit your lunch orders by Wednesday, March 2 at 12 noon: Chartwell’s Order Form .

COVID-19 Reporting

  • We will continue to post a daily update about COVID-19 positive cases (rapid antigen and PCR), that are reported to Havergal, through Thrive Health. The data will be identified by cohort and will include the student’s last known date on campus. You can find this information HERE.
  • It is important that you check this daily, as it contains the most up to date information regarding reported positive cases of COVID-19.
  • Accessing classes via Zoom is only available for students isolating due to COVID-19 or those with a medical/visa accommodation.
    • If a student is away due to COVID-19 isolation, families should communicate this to the school by putting a note/reason in SchoolPass that says “isolating.” It might take up to 24hrs for teachers to make their Zoom links available to a student depending on when we get the information. Assessments will be written in person unless the teacher requests otherwise.
  • If a student is going to be away for longer than 5 days, please contact your child’s Head of School to discuss the situation. Extended absences will include access to class materials on Veracross and asynchronous work only. Access to zoom links will not be permitted.
