Dear Junior School Parents,
Last week at prayers, we asked the girls to reflect on the 2017-2018 school year, and to ask themselves the following questions:
- What went well?
- What made you proud?
- What was challenging?
- What would you do differently now?
We then asked them to use this information to think about what they hope and dream about for the 2018-2019 school. Students identified things such as “making new friends,” “getting on a team,” “trying something new,” “being a better writer,” “working hard in math” and “being the best I can be” as part of this list.
This morning in prayers, we then noted that each class from JK to Grade 6 has been discussing what respect looks, sounds and feels like at the Junior School, and what it means to be a Havergal student. We talked about how it is one thing to know what respect is, and it is another to choose to be respectful. Each student was then invited to think about how they will use respectful words and actions this year so that we can collectively accomplish our hopes and dreams. I invite you to talk about this with your daughter over the weekend and find out how she will choose to speak and act with respect this year.
Sincerely,
Kate White

Prayers- Rosh Hashanah & Yom Kippur
On Monday, September 18, students will be offering the message at our Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur Prayers. Parents are invited to join us for light refreshments afterwards, from 9:00-9:45 am. in the Junior School front hall.
Volunteers Needed: New and returning parents for the Havergal Welcome Committee!
The Welcome Committee is a group of Havergal Junior School parents who work with the Admission Office to give tours to prospective families. Members of the Welcome Committee are also involved in admission events such as the Open House and Coffee and Conversation sessions. This is a great way to meet new people and share your love of Havergal with families who are going through the admission process. Being part of the Welcome Committee is a flexible role and we will work around your availability.
If you would like to be a part of the Welcome Committee, please email Amy Holder aholder@havergal.onl.ca and join us at our Welcome Committee orientation meeting on Monday, October 1 at 9:00 a.m. in the Learning Hub. (right after Prayers)
The Admission team truly values the involvement of our Welcome Committee volunteers. Prospective families love meeting you. They really appreciate feeling welcome in our school and love hearing your HC stories!
Celebration Saturday – Magazine and Cookie Drive
This year we will once again be running a magazine and cookie dough drive for our Celebration Saturday fundraiser
